Sarah Palin’s Going Rogue Book Tour will take the 2008 vice presidential candidate to some key political battleground states, including Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Florida, Missouri, Minnesota and Iowa. Kathy Kiely and Bob Minzesheimer, writing for USA Today, opine that the former governor’s road trip which begins next week “looks more like a whistle-stop campaign” than a book tour:

Of 20 stops that have been announced through Dec. 7, only nine are in counties where Republican John McCain beat Democrat Barack Obama in last year’s presidential election.

“Publishing a book is like a political campaign,” said Peter Osnos, who has published a number of well-known politicians’ books through his imprint, Public Affairs. “She is going to go out there and stump for it.”

Osnos points out there’s a precedent for politicians using book tours as launching pads. The publicity tour for Obama’s second book, Audacity of Hope, “became a huge part of his political ascendancy,” Osnos said.

Like everything Sarah Palin does, her book tour will be unconventional. None of the interviews she has scheduled to promote her memoir are with print publications, and none of the stops for book signings on her tour will be in big cities:

Instead, the former Alaska governor will hit small- and medium-size cities starting Wednesday, mostly in the South and Midwest. She’ll be making two and sometimes three stops a day, traveling in a bus painted with the cover of her book, says Tina Andreadis, a spokeswoman for HarperCollins, Palin’s publisher.

“These are the places where she had her biggest fans and where we think we will sell the most books,” Andreadis said.

And sell books she will. Going Rogue is #2 on Amazon.com’s Bestsellers list behind only Stephen King’s new blockbuster, and it has been in the top 100 for 43 days based solely on pre-release sales. Publisher HarperCollins has ordered a first printing of 1.5 million copies.

Sarah Palin will be making some big city appearances to promote her book, however. She will hit the television studios of Fox News and ABC in News York for major interviews, and her first in the series of interviews will be in Chicago for the Oprah show. Also, former Gov. Palin will venture inside Washington D.C.’s Beltway to speak to the Gridiron Club early in December.

“Governor Palin has been unbelievably conscientious and hands-on at every stage, investing herself deeply and passionately in bring up her book Going Rogue” said Jonathan Burnham, publisher of Harper. “It’s her words, her life, and it’s all there in full and fascinating detail.”

Sarah Palin Book Going Rogue, will be 400 pages, said Burnham, who called the fall “the best possible time for a major book of this kind.” The book now has a title, one fitting for a public figure known for the unexpected – “Going Rogue: An American Life.”

Harper, an imprint of HarperCollins, has commissioned a huge first printing of 1.5 million copies. Sen. Ted Kennedy’s “True Compass,” published by Twelve soon after his Aug. 25 death, also had a 1.5 million first printing.

As with the Kennedy book, the digital edition of Sarah Palin’s memoir will not be released at the same time as the hardcover. “Going Rogue” will not be available as an e-book until Dec. 26 because “we want to maximize hardcover sales over the holidays,” Harper spokeswoman Tina Andreadis said Monday.

Publishers have been concerned that e-books, rapidly becoming more popular, might take away sales from hardcover editions, which are more expensive.

Sarah Palin, who abruptly resigned as Alaska governor over the summer with more than a year left in her first term, has been an object of fascination since Sen. John McCain, the Republican presidential candidate in 2008, chosed her as his running mate, making an instant celebrity out of a once-obscure public official.

During last year’s campaign, pundits questioned whether Sarah Palin hurt McCain’s presidential bid by “going rogue,” or defying his campaign’s control.

Although Democrat candidate Barack Obama easily won the presidential election and Sarah Palin was criticized even by some Republicans for being inexperienced, she remains a favorite among conservatives and is a rumored contender for 2012 Presidential Election. Sarah Palin popularity is so high that a fan recently paid $63,500 to have dinner with her, part of an Online auction for a charity that raising money to aids wounded veterans.

A person close to Sarah Palin said, Sarah Palin,  spent weeks in San Diego shortly after leaving office and worked on the manuscript with collaborator Lynn Vincent. She was joined in San Diego by her family and her top aide, Meghan Stapleton, then spent several days in New York working around the clock with editors at Harper, said the person, who wasn’t authorized to comment and asked not to be identified.

The former Alaska governor’s memoir, a top-seller online weeks before publication, will feature an outdoor shot of Sarah Palin, wearing an American flag pin on her red fleece top, eyes turned slightly from the camera as she smiles confidently into the horizon, a patchwork of Alaska blue sky and clouds behind her.

The image was released on Oct 01 by Harper, an imprint of HarperCollins.

The book, originally planned for next spring, is coming out Nov. 17 with an announced first printing of 1.5 million copies. Sarah Palin and collaborator Lynn Vincent finished “Going Rogue” just two months after Sarah Palin’s resignation as governor.

On Wednesday night, preorders for the memoir Going Rogue made it No. 1 on both Amazon.com and Barnes & Noble.com.

John McCain’s top adviser during his failed 2008 presidential run defended selecting Sarah Palin as his running mate – just weeks after calling her potential 2012 presidential candidacy “catastrophic’” for Republicans.

“I believe to this day that had she not been picked as a vice presidential candidate, we would have never been ahead, not for one second, not for one minute, not for one hour, not for one day,” Steve Schmidt said during a speech Wednesday at the University of Arkansas Clinton School of Public Service, according to The Associated Press.

“Her candidacy excited the Republican Party,” he added. “There was huge excitement that transformed the race.”

Schmidt seemed to backtrack on his earlier criticism, praising the former Alaska governor as someone with “great talent” in politics.

Sarah Palin Favorable Ratings Down

Sarah Palin became a bit of a sensation after John McCain tapped her as his running mate last August. But over the course of the campaign, her image suffered, going from a 53% favorable rating immediately after the 2008 Republican National Convention to 42% by the end of the campaign.

Palin’s ratings have not recovered, and her current 40% favorable rating is the lowest for her since she became widely known after last year’s Republican convention.

Despite the increasingly negative views of Palin overall, she is still seen as a possible contender for the 2012 Republican presidential nomination. Indeed, when Gallup tested a field of possible GOP candidates, Palin was competitive with Mitt Romney and Mike Huckabee for the lead.

Palin could compete for the 2012 nomination because she is still widely liked by Republicans — 69% have a favorable opinion of her while only 25% view her unfavorably. But she may have difficulty succeeding in the general election, given that Democrats have overwhelmingly negative opinions of her, and independents view her more negatively than positively.

Her New book Going Rogue make impact her Favorable rating in people but we have to wait and watch. The book is going to be released on November 17th.

Representative Michele Bachmann will appear in the 2010 calendar of “Great American Conservative Women” (she will be November). Her likeness has been transformed into an action figure. And, so far in 2009, she has been interviewed on a national cable news show every nine days, on average, an analysis by Smart Politics, a nonpartisan blog affiliated with the University of Minnesota shows.

Not bad for someone less than three years on the job.

Here in Ms. Bachmann’s district, and in much of the country, that outsized celebrity has boiled down to this: They adore her or they loathe her.

As the health care overhaul moves closer to a full debate in Congress, Ms. Bachmann is under attack from the Democratic National Committee for spreading “reckless lies” about the overhaul, one of a handful of Republicans singled out as part of the committee’s “Call ’Em Out” campaign. Back home, two Democrats already say they are seeking Ms. Bachmann’s seat in next year’s election, and are raising a lot of money to do so.

“People are struggling to stay in their homes, and she’s off trying to be on Fox News,” said one of those Democrats, Tarryl L. Clark, a state senator.

Some of Ms. Bachmann’s fellow Republicans, meanwhile, are drawing glowing comparisons between her and Sarah Palin, the former Alaska governor and Republican candidate for vice president. Sean Hannity, the conservative talk show host, has introduced Ms. Bachmann as “the second-most-hated Republican woman in the country, second to Governor Palin, which is a good position.”

Ms. Bachmann’s admirers point to her uncompromising, unvarnished stances against big spending, big government programs, tax increases and abortions. Her detractors moan that she opposes anything a Democrat says, and assert that she has transformed herself into a cable television gadfly.

“This is the thing with her,” said Brad Biers, a supporter of Ms. Bachmann who is active in the state Republican Party and lives in her district, probably the most conservative in the state. “There’s not a whole lot of middle ground. You either like her or don’t.”

What is beyond dispute is that Ms. Bachmann’s remarks are seldom dull. She has encouraged an “orderly revolution” against the Democratic establishment and has suggested that she fears that the Obama administration is trying to do away with the dollar.

Last week, she called on Minnesota’s governor to appoint a special investigator here to look into Acorn, the Democratic-leaning community group under fire nationally. In June, she said she would not complete all of her United States census forms next year because such forms were inappropriately intrusive.

In recent months, Ms. Bachmann has been particularly outspoken against Democrats’ proposals on health care. She has questioned whether Congress has the constitutional authority to set such policy in the first place. She has suggested that one proposal’s privacy rules for school-based clinics could open the way for young girls’ getting referrals for abortions. And she has said that illegal immigrants will get access to taxpayer-subsidized health care, one among a list of comments by Ms. Bachmann that the Democratic National Committee has attacked as false.

On Capitol Hill, Ms. Bachmann is viewed with disdain by Democrats who see her as a wacky purveyor of outrageous claims and criticisms. Leading Republicans wince occasionally at her appearances on the floor and on television, but they also see her as someone with telegenic appeal who can energize conservatives and aggravate Democrats and they are not likely to rein her in.

In Minnesota, some believe the national attention around Ms. Bachmann may hint at hopes for a higher office. When Gov. Tim Pawlenty announced he would not seek re-election, some analysts suggested Ms. Bachmann might run, but questioned whether her positions were too conservative to win statewide.

Asked whether she might consider an office beyond the House, Ms. Bachmann, who has announced plans to seek re-election, did not address other possibilities. “I am focused 100 percent on representing Minnesota’s Sixth Congressional District and ensuring their voices are heard in Washington,” she wrote in an e-mail response to questions.

Still, Ms. Bachmann, a lawyer, former state senator and mother of five who with her husband, Marcus, a clinical therapist, has opened their home to 23 foster children, has not so far objected to the speculation, particularly the comparisons to Ms. Palin.

“Sarah Palin is a dedicated mother, committed public servant and strong political figure who has fought hard to protect life, the family budget, and freedom,” Ms. Bachmann said, noting that Ms. Palin’s book — not yet out — was already selling in enormous numbers, while “Nancy Pelosi’s book sold a paltry 2,737 copies in its first week of sales” in 2008.

Given that we’re spending billions of stimulus dollars to rebuild our highways, it makes sense to think about what we’ll be driving on them. For years to come, most of what we drive will be powered, at least in part, by diesel fuel or gasoline. To fuel that driving, we need access to oil. The less use we make of our own reserves, the more we will have to import, which leads to a number of harmful consequences. That means we need to drill here and drill now.

We rely on petroleum for much more than just powering our vehicles: It is essential in everything from jet fuel to petrochemicals, plastics to fertilizers, pesticides to pharmaceuticals. Ac cord ing to the Energy Information Ad min is tra tion, our total domestic petroleum consumption last year was 19.5 million barrels per day (bpd). Motor gasoline and diesel fuel accounted for less than 13 million bpd of that. Meanwhile, we produced only 4.95 million bpd of domestic crude. In other words, even if we ran all our vehicles on something else (which won’t happen anytime soon), we would still have to depend on imported oil. And we’ll continue that dependence until we develop our own oil resources to their fullest extent

Once again Sarah Palin easily wins Politico’s Poll:  Which politician would you like to follow around for a day?   With 28,540 votes cast Sarah Palin took 57% of the votes compared to 23% for the disaster Obama and 2% for the buffoon Biden.

Back in early August and September Sarah Palin also easily handled her GOP counterparts on 2 separate Politico polls and also a huge Newsmax poll with over 600,000 votes cast.  In the August Politico Poll Sarah Palin received 46% to Governor Romney’s 25% and Speaker Gingrich’s 6%.  Politico’s September poll Sarah Palin also dominated with 55%, Governor Romney 15% & Governor Huckabee 10%.  This poll had a total of 24,046 votes were cast.

The largest and most comprehensive poll, by Newsmax, Sarah Palin did even better.  She received an overall 83% approval rating and 78% said they would support her if she runs in 2012.  By all accounts, Sarah Palin is the most popular GOP politician in the country and the front runner for 2012.  Not a single other candidate could fill a stadium nor out sell every author in the country.  Within 8 hours of announcing her upcoming book Going Rogue and 8 weeks before it is released the Going Rogue will most likely call for a 2nd printing.   The disaster Obama could not even fill a stadium unless it was a coordinated effort with union help or a paid-to-be-there audience.   As we all saw with his the fake town hall meetings for Obamacare.

As Obama creates more poverty and makes the poor poorer Sarah Palin seems to be doing everything correct.  She is in control of the health care debate and beating Obama at every turn.   The reality is Obama has no business being in The White House and she does.  Embarrassingly, Obama is being pushed around by the UN, Iran, Chavez, nearly every European leader and, of course, Sarah Palin.   God help us all.
